Nicolas Holwerda Awarded David R. Parsley Scholarship

Nicolas Holwerda, a rising senior at Michigan State University’s Supply Chain Management program was awarded the annual David R. Parsley Scholarship at the Supply Chain Executive Study Group’s Spring Conference in Chicago in May.

Nic was selected as the winner of the $10,000 scholarship from a field of 32 other applicants for this award.  Nic serves as Vice President of the Supply Chain Management Association of Michigan State University, is a Spartan Toastmaster, serving as Vice President of Education, and studies Spanish.  Nic also volunteers - with MSU Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations.  Nic has a summer position with Abbot Laboratories in Columbus, OH as a Global Procurement Services intern.

Additionally, winners of $5000 Scholarships were students Matthew Nehr from Duquesne University, and Maria Tartaglia from Penn State University.

The David R. Parsley Scholarship is awarded annually in May to a student in good-standing in a supply chain/hospitality major at an accredited college/university.  The scholarship and award is stewarded by the Supply Chain Management Executive Study Group (SCMESG), in conjunction with the National Restaurant Association.  The SCMESG is an organization serving current and future Supply Chain professionals in the foodservice and hospitality industries.
